| What had been a tight 2-2 pitchers duel through 6 betwen Adam Eaton and Claudio Vargas totally fell apart from the 7th inning on for the Phillies, as the Brewers pile 8 runs on over the last 3 innings and win big. After Adam Eaton began to tire in the 7th allowing a single, two doubles and hit a batter his day was done. Geoff Geary again couldn't hold the inherited runners on, and the Brewers get 4 runs in the inning. But the most embarrasing play I have ever had game in the 9th. With runners on first and third, Tony Gwynn Jr. doubled to left field. The runner on third scores easily, and the runner on first WAS going to stop at third. However Pat Burrell throws the ball past SECOND BASE on the throw back to the infield, allowing the runner on third to score! The play by play said "HOW EMBARRASING!!" in big capital letters. It even said that the throw wasn't over home plate, it was over the infield. First time I have ever seen that happen, and I hope the last. |
