| Another failed attempt for the Phillies for their first back to back wins on the year, as the Braves bust the game open off the bullpen. Cole Hamels has one of the more unusual pitching lines you will see: 6 IP, 9 hits, 5 runs, 4 BB and 13 strikeouts! He has 8 in the first 3 innings, and 10 through 4. It seemed the Braves were either missing completely or hammering the ball. The game started off well as Chase Utley and Ryan Howard hit back to back blasts in the first inning for the 2-0 lead, but the lead didn't last as the Braves get the two right back on an Andruw Jones homer in the bottom of the first. A run for the Phillies in the 4th, the Braves get the run right back in the bottom of the 4th. Atlanta went ahead for good on Brian McCann's 2-run shot in the 5th. It fell apart in the 8th, when the Braves got 3 runs on a wild pitch and back-to-back homeruns by Edgar Renteria and Chipper Jones off Ryan Madson. Despite Hamels 13 whiffs through 6, the Braves got the 5 runs off him as he absorbes the loss and drops to 1-5, his last win being his first start of the season almost a month ago. |
