April 30, 2007 Phillies 2, Braves 0

The Phillies begin a 10-game road trip, their longest of the season (they also have a 10 game trip in September) in grand fashion, shutting out the division-leading Braves. In the upcoming road trip, the schedule looked disasterous. Atlanta, San Francisco and Arizona. The Braves and Giants have a combined 37-11 record betwen them, and the Giants just came off that 17 game winning streak.

John Lieber is on top of his game, coming within 2 outs of a shutout. Taking no chances, after Edgar Renteria singled with one out in the 9th, Tom Gordon comes in and gets Chipper Jones to ground into the DP to end the game, a win for the Phils to end the month of April.

The Phils two runs came in the first inning, as Pat Burrell ripped a 2-run double for the only run of the game. Tim Hudson is no slouch for the Braves, 6 hits and 2 runs in 8 innings, but ends up on the losing end.
