| Some late runs for the Sox prevented this from being a total embarrassment. The Yanks rip the still struggling Tim Wakefield right out of the game, batting around and getting 5 runs in the first inning. Wake settled down nicely after that, until running out of gas in the 6th. The Sox finally got to Jeff Karstens when his tank started to run dry in the 8th, getting four runs in the inning and closing the gap to 10-5. An exciting 9th, as after a run scored and the Red Sox loaded the bases with one out, Mariano Rivera comes in and strikes out Manny and gets JD Drew to ground out for the final out and give the Yanks the win. |
