| It was almost even in the hit column, but the Phillies knock Nats starter Josh Patterson out of the game in the 2nd inning, pounding him for 6 runs and a 6-2 lead after two. Pat Burrell finally gets his first homer of the season (actually his first and second) with a 3-run blast off Patterson in the first and a solo shot in the 7th. Also good days for Ryan Howard (3 for 5, 2 doubles, 2 RBI) and Chace Utley (3 for 4) It is nice having the +9 holding runners Patterson starting two recent games against the Phils, as the speed gets put to good use. Last time the Phils stole four, and three today with two by Shane Victorino and one for Jimmy Rollins. In fact, 5 of Victorino's 9 steals for the season have come off of Josh Patterson!! |
