April 20, 2007 Red Sox 4, Yankees 3

In a hard-fought battle, some sloppy Yankee defense allows the Sox to come away with the win. With the Yankees holding a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the 6th with two outs and the bases empty, Jason Varitek (who got the Sox only run to that point on a sac fly) singled. Coco Crisp bounces a grounder to second baseman Robinson Cano, who boots it for the error. The still red-hot Dustin Pedroia knocks them both in with a double to tie the game 3-all. J. D. Drew gets an RBI with a sac fly in the 7th for the 4-3 lead, and it holds up as Okajima and Papelbon hold off the Yanks.

Not without a scare, though. With two outs in the 8th, Paps on the mound and the bases loaded, Jorge Posada hits a deep fly to right field on a 1-15 homer chance, It comes up a 17, as Drew makes the catch at the wall to save the grand slam. Drew also made the web gem list for the game with another homer-robbing catch earlier in the game.

I might do a slight lineup change pretty soon, with Pedroia so hot in the 9th spot and Julio Lugo sucking so bad with a sub .200 average in the leadoff spot. I'll give it a couple more games and see if Lugo finally wakes up.
