April 6, 2007 Rangers 3, Red Sox 2

The Texas Rangers hand the Sox their first loss of the young season, winning a 3-2 squeaker. All the scoring occured in the 4th inning, with a Coco crisp sac fly and a Bib Papi's first homer of the year for the Red Sox, while Texas got three in the bottom of the 4th on a Brad Wilkerson RBI single and a Gerald Laird 2-run homerun.

The Sox had a chance to tie in the 9th, as Crisp reached on an error and stole second with one out, but Doug Mirabelli struck out and Dustin Pedroia popped up to end the game on a sour note.

Side note: after the Orioles got no runs in three games against the Twins, they whitewashed the Yankees today 10-0!!

WEB GEMS- Bot 4th: Manny Ramirez robbed Sammy Sosa of a Homerun!

16,640 fans were treated to a fine game at Ameriquest Field as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Texas Rangers won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

Texas did all of it's offensive work in the 4th inning when they tallied 3
runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Gerald Laird who came through
for the home fans when he popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 1st of
the season). After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.

The win went to Robinson Tejeda(1-0) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Tejeda
got relief help from Akinori Otsuka who gained credit for his 2nd save. Tim
Wakefield(0-1) suffered the loss.
