April 4, 2007 Red Sox 7, Royals 2

Josh Beckett pitches spectacular striking out 11 while only allowing two unearned runs in the 8th, and a 12 hit attack puts the Sox to 2-0 on the season. Every batter had at least one hit led by Dustin Pedroia, who had a double and a homerun. Homers also by Coco Crisp and Youk. So far, no homeruns from the power hitters who you expect to smash the ball out of the park.

Also, a nice 4 for 4 day for Mark Teahan in a losing cause for the Royals.

Josh Beckett reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and Dustin Pedroia connected
with a 'big fly' at Kauffman Stadium where the Boston Red Sox beat the Kansas
City Royals by the score of 7 to 2.

Beckett(1-0) gave Boston a solid outing. He didn't give up much, just 8 hits
and no walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. Jonathan Papelbon was perfect in relief
and got the save, his 2nd.

Odalis Perez(0-1) was given the loss. Buddy Bell was impressed with Beckett
and his 10 strikeouts. 'It's tough to generate runs if you can't make
contact with the ball.'
