| Cole Hamels was brillant at times, shaky at times, and does get a complete game thanks to a fairly low pitch count, but it ends up a loss with two mistake pitches. All scoring on homeruns today, with Ryan Howard's 2-run shot in the 1st inning, a 3-run bomb by Chris Burke in the 3rd to give the 'Stros the 3-2 lead. The Phils tie it with Chase Utley's solo homer in the 5th, but Carlos Lee gives Houston the lead right back, 4-3, with a solo shot in the 6th. Hamels would retire the last 10 straight of the game, but the Phils could do no damage. Jimmy Rollins did get a 2 out triple in the 9th, but Shane Victorino would fly out to strand Rollins 90 feet from tying the game. Only one runner left on base for the Astros today, which besides a perfect game is the lowest total I have probably ever had. There might have been some here and there with none left on base but no perfect game, but none that I can think of offhand. |

beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 4 to 3.
Woody Williams(2-1) earned his pay with a solid performance for Houston. He
was reached for 6 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings and served up 2 'big flies'.
Philadelphia made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
Brad Lidge got the save, his 1st. The losing pitcher was Cole Hamels(1-2).
By giving up 4 runs in 9 innings his ERA increased from 1.93 to 2.74.
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Charlie Manual 'But we
have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'
